Meet us in Greensboro, North Carolina, where Shannon Childs joins our Around the Globe series to talk about the single work item she cannot live without. Though she’s new to Sago, Childs is a veteran in the industry with more than 25 years of experience. Read on as she reflects on her purpose at Sago.

Q: What values most resonate for you regarding the Sago culture?

Shannon Childs: Being passionate about what you do has always been a driving force for me.  According to Webster, passion is defined as an intense, driving, or overmastering feeling of conviction. When I am passionate about something, people more often describe me as loud, energetic, and ready to jump into action. I am thankful that I work in an environment where this behavior is not only tolerated, but also encouraged! When people are aligned to their passions, great things can happen and having this as a foundational element for our organization makes me happy.

Q: What do you consider to be your purpose at Sago?

Shannon Childs: During my 25 years of work experience in the healthcare industry, I have been exposed to lots of different roles. Two years ago, I made the decision to join the Sago team because I valued the journey it was on, to be a leader in the ResTech space. My background in strategy and consulting brings a unique perspective, so my purpose really centers on using that different lens to add value in decision-making.

Q: What’s the one work item you can’t live without and why?

Shannon Childs: My calculator! Anyone that knows me knows that I love data! When someone brings an issue to the table, the first thing I want is data to help quantify the situation. I love spreadsheets but having my hands on my Texas Instruments calculator from the early ’90s is comforting in ways I cannot fully explain.
