In this edition of our Around the Globe series, we meet up with Janet Sykes, Account Manager, Germany for Sago, in New Mexico, USA. Working as a liaison between the German team and clients for over five years, Janet had this to say about her experience.

Q: What makes your location special?

Janet Sykes: I love working for the German team. Although I have moved back to the U.S., I found Germany to be a wonderful country and the team is wonderful to work with. It is such a dynamic country. Germans are of course well known for being organized and this is evident in the high-quality work they do. In addition, they have the highest level of fluency in Western Europe which makes their communications with English-speaking clients, topnotch.

Q: What do you consider to be your purpose at Sago?

Janet Sykes: I feel I play the role of “bridge” between the Business Development (BD) team and clients as well as the Project Management (PM) team and clients. I share costs and feasibility while allowing the BD team to oversee larger client relationships. I also provide the PM team with solid client feedback from the outset to set up expectations and get the project off to a good start.

Q: What’s one item you can’t live without and why?

Janet Sykes: I never thought this would be true, but it turns out to be – my iPhone. From taking pictures of my grandson, to practicing German on Duolingo to using WhatsApp to stay in touch with my European colleagues, I don’t know what I would do without it!
