We convene focus groups of voters from key battleground states who flipped from Joe Biden in 2020 to Donald Trump in 2024 \u2014 and ask what\u2019s on their minds.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Economic Anxiety Overshadows Everything<\/h3>\n<p>Out of 12 Nevada-based swing voters (10 independents and two Republicans), seven disapprove of how President Trump is handling things since returning to office. The dominant reason? Inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Eight of 12 say they feel more anxious about the economy now than they did in January.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGas prices went down and then they went back up\u2026 groceries haven\u2019t changed. I\u2019m spending more every time I go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m really nervous with just the day-to-day life\u2026 all the uncertainty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m a single mom\u2026 a household of four and a baby. Groceries are a huge impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m terrified. I don\u2019t know if Social Security will be there when I retire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to appeal a $24,000 bill for one x-ray. What on Earth?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Voters cited rising costs for gas, cars, insurance, housing, and food. Not a hoax.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cTypical Trump deflection. He\u2019s not being forthcoming.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cHe manipulates the reader. Not Everyone Knows<\/h3>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">All 12 participants had heard of Trump\u2019s One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB). But <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">seven admitted they didn\u2019t know enough about it<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> to have an opinion. Of the remaining five, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">only one liked it<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cIt\u2019s going to motivate people to get involved, get more work done.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">The rest focused on <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">cuts to Medicaid and SNAP<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">, and a perceived link between cuts and increased crime.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cYou cut Medicaid and increase the deficit? But once shown the fine print \u2014 including continued FICA taxation \u2014 <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">they rejected the \u201cno taxes\u201d claim as misleading.<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Even so, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">five liked<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> the bill, <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">three disliked<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\"> it, and <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">four were neutral<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cAnything that puts more money in your pocket is a good thing.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cMy partner\u2019s a cab driver.
