We, Who Have Lost Our Way
October 23rd, 2011 | Add a Comment
We, the lost are gathered here on this tumid beach by the river of life. This is our waiting room. Here, this world’s judgment will fall upon us and maybe the final judgment, as well. Here, we discuss with ourselves and argue among ourselves the weight of permanent things and the conflict with things purely personal and craven. Are we worthy? I cannot say and those who might try will ask worthy of what or whom? Once we Americans held the power of the ancient jawbone ten thousand times over. Today our enemies mock us, our friends distrust us and we are timid and fearful. There is no us, only them and what we want. How we feel matters more than what … Read entire article »

Obama’s Declaration of Victory All But Guarantees Defeat in Iraq
October 22nd, 2011 | Add a Comment
If bringing the troops home signals Victory, then isn’t World War II and Korea still going on? Let’s be clear. Victory over the military forces of Iraq occurred in 2003. It was won by President George W Bush. The subsequent insurgent War in Iraq ended in 2007-2008, and that too was won by George W Bush, after he successfully launched the Surge in 2007. Total American casualties in Iraq prior to and during the Surge were 4221, and since, during Obama’s watch, 258. So no, Obama hasn’t won anything in Iraq. And he has no right to declare a victory which occurred while he was still a state senator in Illinois. For the Record: American troops are still quartered in Japan, 61 years after Japan was restored to the worldwide community as a democracy. … Read entire article »
Rick Perry’s Ace…if He’ll Just Play It
October 19th, 2011 | Add a Comment
As you know, I’m a Herman guy, but like Rick Perry a lot. I want to see him do well. And I’d like to see Rick Perry knock Mitt Romney’s block off. Every one knows Romney’s plan; run Perry off quick because Cain will be easy to handle next year. I don’t think the Romney people have consulted Jerry Brown about his dad’s similar opinion in 1966 about Ronald Reagan, but I’ll save that for another time. What I’d like to see done is to have injected in this campaign a broader vision of conservatism and that “American exceptionalism thingy,” not only as a way to distinguish conservatives from the Left of Barack Obama, but the moderates of the GOP Establishment. That’s not just a winner, it needs to be said, for it’s … Read entire article »
Meet Jeff Fitzgerald US Senate Candidate in Wisconsin
October 17th, 2011 | Add a Comment
In 2012, Wisconsin is a battleground state that the GOP needs to win to become the majority. There are five GOP candidates for the US Senate seat, and more running for this open seat currently held by the Democrat incumbent, Herb Kohl. I like Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald over the others. Jeff Fitzgerald’s statement: Common sense reforms combined with unwavering leadership create results that are as desperately needed as they are rare. In Wisconsin I led the Assembly to a balanced budget in face of fierce opposition from the status quo. I would be honored to lead a new reform movement in Washington. Any candidate can promise to change a system, to balance a budget, or to enact a pro-growth, job creating agenda. Few can actually say they’ve done it and none … Read entire article »
The Election Before the Election
October 12th, 2011 | Add a Comment
I could also title this: The War Before the Battle, and sound a note of finality to it. By January, I may. We’ll see. . . . Forget about the candidates right now. Don’t worry, they won’t forget, and that may be the problem, for each one of the conservatives (I count five) see ALL the other candidates as equal impediments. They each may be conservative but their campaign staffs likely aren’t. They want to win. Period. But stepping back away from personalities and your favorites, it’s easy to see that there are two historic-based camps engaged in this struggle (which could elevate it later a war), plus Ron Paul, who as always, goes his own way. Only one can win. And we have to. By the numbers: Two moderates, Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman can at best … Read entire article »
Angry Holder Walks After Fast and Furious Question at Presser
October 12th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Attorney General Eric Holder held a press conference yesterday to discuss a foiled terrorism plot. One reporter found the nerve to ask a question about the Fast and Furious “gun running” scandal. Holder took the tried and tested Bill Clinton method to answer by saying he was complying with the inquiry and was busy with the important business of his office. General Holder apparently thinks he can walk away from any responsibility for the Justice Departments involvement in the scandal. Not so fast says Republican Darrel Issa: A key House Republican characterized Operation Fast and Furious as the full responsibility of Attorney General Eric Holder, in shooting back at the embattled Justice Department chief’s claim he told the truth to Congress about his knowledge of the botched gun-tracking program. “Whether you realize yet … Read entire article »

Give That Man A Dewey Button
October 11th, 2011 | Add a Comment
“Give that man a Dewey button!” A common saying in the 1950s, you never hear it anymore. Thomas Dewey was the Republican candidate for president in 1948. Most polls had him coasting to victory over incumbent President Harry Truman. The voters said different… Keep this bit of history in mind until all the votes are counted. He was the Republican candidate in the 1948 presidential election in which, in almost unanimous predictions by pollsters and the press, was projected as the winner. Dewey had seemed unstoppable. Republicans figured that all they had to do to win was to avoid making any major mistakes, and as such Dewey did not take any risks. He spoke in platitudes, trying to transcend politics. Speech after speech was filled with empty statements of the obvious, … Read entire article »
The Slackers of Occupy Wall Street
October 8th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Yeah, we ALL get it. The banks got bailed out and the people got sold out. So all the longhairs, druggies and anarchists run to some park in New York to protest Wall Street and trash America. Guess what dipsticks, the productive people of America, the ones providing your subsistence took up the issue of big government corporate cronyism way back in early 2009. They didn’t have to have sleepovers in a nasty New York park to do it, either. They made their voices count and cleaned the House in 2010 and are still at work. When they work they clean up after themselves. That’s what grown-ups do. Punks like the Wall Street occupiers are pawns of the unions and big government. … Read entire article »

Happening Now: Feds Designing Your Healthcare
October 7th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Your healthcare benefits were once designed by the insurance companies, your employer and the state where you lived. That’s over. At this moment, the experts at the Institute of Medicine are drawing up rules for what the government will mandate as basic health care coverage. The plan they come up with is what will be required for insurance companies to provide. If it brings any comfort, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said officials would hold “listening sessions” around the country before any final decisions are made. Polls indicate the public still supports total repeal of Obamacare. There will be lobbying efforts from employers, insurance companies and consumer groups attempting to influence the coverage that will be required. From the Associated Press: Actually, work on the benefits package is already well … Read entire article »

#OccupyWallStreet; One Question, Please.
October 6th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Lady Freedom It sounded like Hannity had an open line to the #OccupyWallStreet moochers on his radio show this afternoon. One raving idiot spewing forth ignorance after another. One I remember suggested we take money away from corporations and use it “for the starving children around the world.” Another said something about “No one should be allowed to earn a billion dollars, no one can spend a billion dollars.” I’m not so sure about that, I’m pretty sure I’d really enjoy a run at proving that wrong. And really, hasn’t B Hussein Obama already blown that one out of the water? But one other question occurred to me. I’ve flirted with liberalism and a few other ideas over the years. That same question was always enough to pull me back from … Read entire article »

Sarah Palin Not Running For President
October 5th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Mark Levin read a statement from Palin announcing the decision before speaking to the former vice presidential nominee on his show. After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking the 2012 GOP nomination for President of the United States. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision. When we serve, we devote ourselves to God, family and country. My decision maintains this order. My decision is based upon a review of what common sense Conservatives and Independents have accomplished, especially over the last year. I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office – from … Read entire article »
Sarah Palin: Should I Stay or Should I Go?
October 3rd, 2011 | Add a Comment
For nearly three years, Sarah Palin has bedeviled the Left. By far the most popular Republican and conservative in America, she is also the most recognizable (next to Limbaugh, he would argue) and therefore also the most hated (again next to Limbaugh, he would argue.) Even before Barack Obama was inaugurated the Left assumed Sarah would be Obama’s principal opponent in 2012 and the “Destroy Sarah Palin…and all that she loves” machinery was set into motion. Fast forward and it’s just 13 months in front of the next election, three months in front of the first primary, and it’s true, Sarah Palin, while still the most popular Republican in America, also carries the weight of having earned the most negatives. And I think she’s had almost as much fun earning them as … Read entire article »
Democrats Get an Opportunity to Create Jobs… and Screw It Up
October 1st, 2011 | Add a Comment
Gov Perdue shows where the thirty pieces of silver must cross her palm to bring business to NC. When I was a Soldier we usually referred to these kinds of people as being able to f*ck up a wet dream. I’m a civilian now and try to avoid such analogies but… What else could describe this? RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A state lawmaker and a group of Democratic political donors with ties to Gov. Beverly Perdue are poised to sell land at a handsome profit should a tire plant be lured to North Carolina with $100 million in state and local incentives, according to public records reviewed by The Associated Press. As North Carolina’s chief executive, the governor is a key decision maker in large incentives deals involving state money. She also helps … Read entire article »

Michele Obama: Saving President FUBAR
September 29th, 2011 | Add a Comment
. The adoring crowds are gone. Mr. Hope and Change turned out to be a dope, deranged. Barak Obama can’t deliver on jobs and he can’t deliver his lines. His poll numbers would depress the most optimistic politician. Obama is “used up.“. Who can save Obama? Who can energize lifeless Democrats? Enter the First Lady, Michele Obama: The first lady always ends her speeches to Democratic donors with two questions: “Are you in? Are you fired up?” It’s a call to arms that the Obama campaign needs more than ever this election, when the combination of a weak economy and dampened enthusiasm for the president are creating a tougher climate for raising money. Since mid-May, the first lady has headlined more than a dozen fundraisers for her husband and the Democratic Party, … Read entire article »

Why GOP Billionaires Don’t Care
September 29th, 2011 | Add a Comment
You’ve heard, no doubt, that with Herman Cain’s sudden rise in the GOP presidential heap in Florida this past weekend, GOP billionaires are in a near panic as to who they can give their money to. Chris Christie’s phone is ringing off the wall. Bill Kristol, who pushed McCain in both 2004 and 2008, is near tears Christie won’t get in. In 1980 they weren’t the least bit comfortable with Ronald Reagan either, and couldn’t wait until he left office. Oh, Reagan did a couple of good things, end the Cold War, cut taxes for the working rich, but after he left office, he left behind a long list of new notions they had to pretend to admire. And he messed up the neighborhood, for Reagan had lured conservatives, including Christians, into … Read entire article »
Obama Runs Against Do-Nothing Congress
September 29th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Obama, now campaigning for reelection non-stop around the country, is already trying to blame a Do-Nothing Congress for his failures. But the Republican-controlled House has already been quite active in passing legislation to address the nation’s problems. It is the Do-Nothing Democrat-controlled Senate that has failed to act on any of the House’s accomplishments or even pass a budget as required by law, effectively failing to show up for work. Is Obama running against the Democrat-controlled Senate that had the good sense to vote down Obama’s proposed runaway budget, 97-0? Let’s compare the record of this Democrat-controlled Senate with the record of what the Republican-controlled House has already accomplished this year. Republican-controlled House action Democrat-controlled Senate reaction The first act of the Republican House was to pass repeal of Obamacare, reducing future taxes and … Read entire article »
Gov Perdue (D) Calls For Suspension Of Congressional Elections
September 27th, 2011 | Add a Comment
This woman is putting a feeler out there for someone, and I say, bring it on. I am sick of the conspiracy theorists who each election cycle think that the President, any President of any Party would call for the suspension of elections. I want it to happen, I look forward to it happening, so that the Country can see exactly what that oath is that our military takes. If the President or Congress or Governor of any State decided to take a position of stopping the peoples’ right to throw them out, the United States Military would seize that politician and place them in jail; it is the law and I for one, believe that our military would do just that. You Think You Are Cute Ms Perdue? You … Read entire article »

The New Waste Land
September 26th, 2011 | Add a Comment
April may be the cruelest month (TS Eliot), but for economic meltdowns, September and October are the blackest. It looks like that is proving true again this year. September has been brutal for investors in the world financial markets. Everybody has a reason or an excuse. What one believes is causing the the economic strain is often tied to one’s political leanings. I’m sure you have your suspicions. Keynes or Hayek? If one looks around the world objectively, what is too obvious to ignore is the mountain of debt racked up by reckless spending. This is true in Euro zone and they have again become the waste land. Florida Straw Voters Hand Mainstream Media Stunning Defeat
September 25th, 2011 | Add a Comment
Only 10 days ago, I asked here if Herman Cain wasn’t dismantling the scaffolding the mainstream media has erected around the American electoral process for over 50 years. Yesterday, Florida straw poll voters took an acetylene torch to the MSM’s perch. From now on you can expect the entire tenor of the campaign to change, back into the candidates’ court, as it was in the first debate, when there was one shared enemy, Barack Obama and no other. The entire playing field has changed, and I’m not sure the MSM can get the game back onto theirs, for Herman’s “pay them no never-mind” attitude will help keep it where it belongs. Focus, focus, focus, on issues that are important to voters and not the media hounds, so there should be no more of those … Read entire article »
Yes We Cain! Winner Of The Florida Straw Poll, Herman Cain
September 24th, 2011 | Add a Comment
There was never any doubt in my mind that Herman Cain could be the candidate for the conservative wing of the GOP. It will of course gall the political class to death that Herman has any giddy-up in his hitch, but that is OK, because they are the problem and We The People, in the form of Herman Cain, are coming to take our Country back from those who have destroyed it. Both political parties are guilty of the destruction America faces. The modern day TEA Party was a response to President Bush, and then Barack Obama, for spending and wasting our dollars; all the while protecting their friends at the expense of Main Street. I welcome those who continue to belittle us, because we are a movement of many … Read entire article »

Can Grown-Ups Save Conservatism?
September 22nd, 2011 | Add a Comment
A recurring problem on the Right of allowing pride and vanity to over-shadow the fight against the Left tells me this pride still heralds a coming fall (Prov 16:18), a fall we can little afford. We need to distinguish conservatism culturally from the Left, and it is not our youngsters who are equipped to do it. Sometimes culture must trump politics. * * * * * * Used to be, by the time you were 30 you were grown-up and by the time you were 40, you were entering middle age, considered then a man’s prime. Those were to be our best years, where maturity and experience combined to mold a man equipped to achieve at his highest level, his station in life built on the respect he had earned from … Read entire article »
Twist? Bernanke’s Next Huge, Embarrasing Failure
September 21st, 2011 | Add a Comment
With the economy in the doldrums and 16% of workers unemployed or underemployed, the magician at the Federal Reserve has a new plan. It’s called “Operation Twist”. Fed Chair Ben Bernanke says he will shift the Fed’s holdings from short term to long term. The theory is the new shift in policy will bring down long term interest rates that will spur the housing market. Even more of what has not worked seems to be the order of the day. Martin Crutsinger, myway.com : Most economists expect the Fed to announce a plan Wednesday to shift money in its $1.7 trillion portfolio out of short-term securities and into longer-term holdings. The plan could lower Treasury yields further. Ultimately, it could reduce rates on mortgages and other consumer and business loans, too. Fed Chairman Ben … Read entire article »

Chicago Tribune’s Steve Chapman Calls Obama Home
September 18th, 2011 | Add a Comment
The Chicago Tribune’s Steve Chapman has written an article listing the reasons Barak Obama should “withdraw.” We don’t have to wonder any more when such questions would begin from the MSM. It will be interesting to see how this is played by the rest of the media. Here’s a taste of what Chapman had to say: When Ronald Reagan ran for re-election in 1984, his slogan was “Morning in America.” For Barack Obama, it’s more like midnight in a coal mine. His approval rating is at its lowest level ever. His party just lost two House elections — one in a district it had held for 88 consecutive years. He’s staked his future on the jobs bill, which most Americans don’t think would work. The vultures are starting to circle. Former White … Read entire article »

AttackWatch! Tell the Obamytes About Your Neighbor

Democrats Thunderstruck in NY09
September 14th, 2011 | Add a Comment
. Republican Bob Turner beat New York State Assemblyman David Weprin in the special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by Anthony Weiner Tuesday. This is a stunning upset victory in a district with 3 to 1 Democrat registrations. NY09 was last held by a Republican in 1923. “This is not a district that Republicans have any right to believe we could win,” said House Speaker John Boehner. The Obama factor may have been too much for Weprin to overcome: But voter frustration with Obama put Weprin in the unlikely spot of playing defense. A Siena Poll released Friday found just 43 percent of likely voters approved of the president’s job performance, while 54 percent said they disapproved. Among independents, just 29 percent said they approved of Obama’s job performance. Turner, a 70-year-old Catholic, … Read entire article »
