Obama’s 2nd Inaugural – Darkness at Noon

The most willfully divisive president in American history gave his second inaugural address today.

It was literally one of the most amazing – and in its own way, disgraceful – speeches in American political history, and all the more astonishing in that it called for trashing a number of our bedrock constitutional freedoms shortly after President Obama took an oath to preserve and protect them.

What President Obama just told the country, essentially, is what he told Russian President Medvedev to tell Vladimir Putin, that he was facing his last election and once he was elected, he would be able to be more ‘flexible.’

Now that he’s re-elected, he apparently feels that he’s no longer accountable to anyone any more, and doesn’t have to bother to fake anything like moderation, or being the president of all the people. He told us today in no uncertain terms that we will see government from the far Left.

His voice at a near shout throughout, President Obama beat the class warfare drum hard, and pledged to enforce his agenda to fundamentally change America in his image while repeating ‘we the people ‘ throughout. Reading between the lines, it’s obvious what that agenda is…a redistribution of wealth to the more ‘deserving’, climate change taxes, gay marriage, amnesty for illegal aliens, and massive gun confiscation, and an astonishing loss of personal liberty to Big Government for the Greater Good:

Through it all, we have never relinquished our skepticism of central authority, nor have we succumbed to the fiction that all society’s ills can be cured through government alone. Our celebration of initiative and enterprise; our insistence on hard work and personal responsibility, are constants in our character.

But we have always understood that when times change, so must we; that fidelity to our founding principles requires new responses to new challenges; that preserving our individual freedoms ultimately requires collective action.

For the American people can no more meet the demands of today’s world by acting alone than American soldiers could have met the forces of fascism or communism with muskets and militias. No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future, or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores. Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation, and one people.

This is classic ObamaSpeak. First the president set up a paragraph’s worth of cover by citing what seems to be a classic American principle, and then he told us what he really thinks, that collective action (or a convenient Executive Order when that won’t suffice) is necessary to destroy individual liberty to meet ‘new challenges’. And revealingly, he then goes on to compare individual liberty and individualism to using outdated militias and muskets to fight wars in the twentieth century. That is how President Obama sees the world,  regardless of what our Constitution was built on and for the next four years, he’s going to do his best to create it whether we like it or not.  And that no diverse opinions or views will be tolerated.

Progressives have been touting this kind of genial fascism for years. There is no collective action in free markets or free men. It’s always the individual, the Kulak, the selfish Plutocrat standing in the way of the will of the People, as envisioned by their beneficent Masters.

Chairman Mao, among others said almost exactly this before ordering the Great Leap Forward

We are definitely going to get the kind of government we deserve..and then some. The mask is off.
