It seems that whole Rahm Emanuel thing isn’t working out so well in Chicago. Why did anyone think it would work? The guy has never run a darn thing that mattered, other than big blue statist policies for a couple of statist presidents. Oh yeah, he helped elect a bunch of new Democrat statists to Congress at a time when Republicans thought the road to political nirvana was Democrat lite. Doesn’t seem like much to be proud of but the dirty talking little man with a big ego decided he needed to be mayor of Chicago.
Chicago wanted him too, and so they got him. A big blue city got a big blue Chicago style Democrat, except he is proving to be mostly talk, a grasshopper with an alligator mouth. “So what” you say? The big blue cities are mostly a mess. That’s true except this epic failure of a mayor in Chicago just happens to be tied in with the epic failure in the White House. They are both men without a record of executive leadership. . . or cub scout leadership, for that matter.
It is easy to talk tough and spout the language of the left. It’s hard to lead and actually governing is hard and not so glam. Just take a look at what is going on in Chicago.
Every weekend is shoot-out. Emanuel and his sorry excuse for a police superintendent seem helpless to stop the killing. It is so bad, Emanuel has tried begging the gangs to at least not shoot kids in their firefights. This is pathetic.
Of course, there is a scapegoat for all the violence. It’s the suburbs! Chew on that for a moment. Guns from the suburbs. . . sorta sounds like that claim that led to the disastrous Fast and Furious. These statist Dems, you really have to admire how they stick with a meme.
Leaving the guns, the killings and the related flash mobs behind, what is the Chicago crisis du jour? Those pesky teachers and their unions are about to shut down the whole Chicago School System, just days after opening for the new school year. More money and smaller classes they say and right in the middle of an ongoing financial crisis. Hey, they are Democrats and so they are always broke. So why not now?
Poor Rahm, skewered by fellow travelers, and nobody to call off the dogs. Cave, grasshopper.
